2016 Challenge Schedule

The much anticipated 2016 Mercer Health 5K Challenge schedule is listed below.

Zuma Days 5K – Saturday, June 18th

 Maria Stein Countryfest 5K – Sunday, June 26th

 St. Henry – Redskin Classic 5K – Sunday, July 3rd

 Fort Recovery – St. Clair’s 5K – Saturday, July 9th

 Rockford – Shane’s Crossing 5K – Saturday, July 16th

 Celina Lake Festival 5K – Saturday, July 23rd

 Coldwater – Buzzard’s Glory 5K – Saturday, August 6th

Burkettsville – Burkett 5K – Saturday, August 13th

Back by popular demand – “The All Eight Award” for competing in all eight Challenge 5K’s.

All who compete in at least six events will earn a Mercer Health 5K Challenge shirt and be eligible for

age group awards.

Entry forms for Challange races will be posted in the coming weeks.

If you are looking to tune up for the Challenge season:

St. Patrick's Day 5K - March 20th in St. Henry, Ohio - This is always a fun race as it's the area kickoff to the 5K season. A great time to renew friendships with your running buddies.

3rd Annual Heart & Sole 5K - April 2nd at Eldora Speedway - Proceeds benefit State of Heart Care - Hospice Care Center.

St. Patrick's 5K & 2016 Challenge

While it's not a part of the Challenge, the St. Patrick's Day 5K in St. Henry will be on Sunday, March 20th.  Entry forms for this race can be found on the ENTRY FORMS tab at the top of this page.

The 2016 Mercer Health 5K Challenge schedule will be posted in early February.  Thanks to all who have already shown enthusiasm toward this year's Challenge.


November 5K's

Now that the Challenge season is past and you are looking for some inspiration to keep yourself running may we suggest the following races:

Cooper Turkey Trot 5K - November 7th in St. Henry, Ohio - This has become a great annual 5K with the proceeds benefiting State of the Heart Hospice.  The folks at Coopers know how to take care of the runners afterwards with a great lunch including turkey sandwiches.

K of C 5K for Vocations - November 14th at St. Charles Center, Carthagena, Ohio - This 5K is held on the scenic grounds and surrounding roads of St. Charles Center (formerly St. Charles Seminary). Awards and door prizes will include pumpkin pies to the top finisher in each age groups as well as other random pies given away.  Proceeds from the event will be used to support Catholic vocations.  Individuals of all faith and denominations are welcome and encouraged to participate.

All Eight Award - September 27, 2015

The "All Eight" Challenge half-zips have arrived.  We are in the process of getting them distributed and hope to have them out to everybody this week. Congratulations to everyone who competed in all eight 5K's.  We hope you enjoy your new pullover and wear it with pride.


2015 Challenge Wrap Up

The final standings for the 2015 Mercer Health 5K Challenge series have been posted.  Below this article are photos of the individuals who earned shirts and awards.  One Hundred twenty-six individuals earned a shirt by competing in at least six of the eight Challenge 5K's. Fifty-six participants met the "All Eight" Challenge by completing the entire eight race Challenge season and earned a half-zip runners pullover for their efforts.

With the conclusion of the season, we wish to thank all of you who took part in the Mercer Health Challenge. We also wish you the best as you enter the fall running season, whether it is cross country, the Grand Lake Marathon/Half Marathon/5K or 10K, or one the other running events in our area.

Last but not least, special thanks go out to our series sponsors: Mercer Health, Cooper Foods, Innergy Fitness Center, Wabash Communications, Independent Capital Management and the Grand Lake Marathon.
